Italy Volcanology Field Experience
Investigation of volcanic activity both past and
present amongst the most active volcanoes in
the world in Italy. An integral part is hands-on
field work applying theoretical knowledge to
the study of volcanic geology by visiting the
active volcanoes Vesuvius, Etna, Stromboli and
Campi Flegrei.

Geology of the European Alps & Surroundings
A hands-on, on site introduction to the
geology, geography and culture of the greater
European Alpine region and surroundings
areas, including key fossil quarries in Germany,
Alpine glaciers, mineral waters, as well as the
Po basin and historic Carara marble quarries
north of Pisa, Italy. The European Alps offer a
unique geologic & cultural perspective on
living with the dynamic ongoing processes of
our planet.

Applied Geology & Mining History of
Germany
Germany and its Alpine Region to the South is
not only incredibly rich in history,
architecture, art and culture, it is also home
to scientific innovations, technological
advances and often hailed as a model in
environmental policies and procedures. Many
key elements contributing to our
understanding of geologic systems come from
Germany.

THE BURREN GEOLOGY FIELD SCHOOL
CAHERCONNELL, IRELAND
In colloboration with National University of
Ireland - Galway
A geology field school that offers world class
examples of Mississippian and Pennsylvanian
sedimentary stratigraphy and Quaternary
glaciokarst geomorphology.

OUR GEOLOGY INTERNATIONAL FIELD COURSES
The department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Metropolitan State University of Denver is proud to offer occasional international field experiences
in geology. The associated college credit field courses are hybrid field & lecture courses taught during the Summer semester with approx. 2 weeks of
international field experience and 6 weeks of class instruction in the USA. These courses are offered infrequently on a 4 to 6 year cycle or when enough
